A North Korean national has used a network of companies in Thailand and Laos to acquire sanctioned goods like brandy for the regime and access the international financial system in violation of U.N. sanctions, according to a new U.N. Panel of Experts report.
The panel overseeing the DPRK sanctions regime recommended the U.N. Security Council (UNSC) designate the 55-year-old DPRK national Nam Chol Ung over his activities, though division on the UNSC has impeded new sanctions for years.
